Salobreña: Hotel Suites Salobreña - Monte de los Almendros - Castillo de Salobreña - Playa de La Guardia - Playa del Caletón

Walk with Sexisenderistas

Spanish

This circular route starts at the Hotel Suites Salobreña and walks to Salobreña, visiting some of the most interesting sights along the way. The route is 10.51 km long, has an elevation of 260 m and takes approximately 3 hours to complete.

LONG DESCRIPTION

The route starts the Hotel Suites Salobreña. We follow the road up through the Monte de los Almendros, with its fantastic coastal views. We walk past the Casa del Acantilado or the Casa del Dragón, as it's also known, tucked into the cliff with its unique zinc-tiled roof. As we arrive at Salobreña, we walk through the Caleta with its narrow streets and photo exposition on  of local people, the Caleteros, and the old sugar factory, the Azucarera del Guadalfeo. We then walk through the fertile vega area to make our way up to the Mirador de las Flores. We skirt round the historic castle and the Calle Bóveda, before making our way down to the Playa de la Charca. From here, we walk along the Playa de la Guardia to the coastal walkway which connects Playa la Caletilla and Cala Caletón. The rest of the route is mainly uphill to connect with the original route and to make our way back to the starting point.

On a day with high waves you might have to go around the back of the old rum factory. There are no tapas at the Hotel Suites  so we went to the bus station in Salobreña.
