
This circular walk starts next to the Pantano de Quéntar near the village of Quéntar. It is 12.96 km long, has an elevation of 371 m and takes approximately 4 hours to complete.
The walk begins next to the Quéntar Reservoir. After the dam, there is a gentle climb, passing under statue of the mountain goat. We continue on up to the highest point of the walk at 1405m (Cuerda de Hazas Negras). Then we begin the descent. We cross the Tintín stream and walk along the Barranco del Tintín to return to the starting point.
It is possible to come here by bus from Granada to do this walk although the walk from the centre of Quentar to the start point and back would add another 8km and 210 metres uphill to the walk. The bus costs 1,80 € and it takes 25 minutes to arrive in Quentar. The bus to Quentar leaves from monday to saturday at 7.30, 8.30, 10.30, 12.30, 13.30, 14.30, 15.30, 16.30, 18.30, 20.30 and 22.30 and on sundays and holidays at 9.30, 13.30, 18.30 and 22.30.
Buses back to Granada are leaving at 7, 8, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 21 and 23h. On sunday and holidays at 10, 14, 19 and 23h. There is a backpackers hostal in quentar. There is a backpacker's hostal in Quentar called Fundalucia Guesthouse and they have updated information about how to get to Quentar on their website here.
Apparently is is not too bad a place to stay if you prefer a village to the bustle of Granada.
