This linear route in the Sierra Nevada goes from the Hoya de la Mora to the Lagunillas de la Virgen. It is 12km long, has an elevation of 468m and takes approximately 4 hours to complete. This is a summer walk when there is no snow.
The route starts in the car park at Hoya de la Mora in the Sierra Nevada. We walk past the Refugio Militar Capitán Cobo and the Caseta de Información del Parque Nacional and then up to the statue of the Virgen de las Nieves. We continue up crossing some of the Sierra Nevada ski resort runs and on up to the Borreguiles del Dílar and some waterfalls. At 2900m, we reach the Laguna de las Yeguas and at 2945m, we come to the Lagunillas de la Virgen. We then make our way back to the starting point. Just before we get back to the starting point we visit Virgen de las Nieves The Lagunillas de la Virgen is a great place to eat.
This walk can be made difficult if there are very strong winds. See the link below. Wind speeds of over 50kmh will be unpleasant.
