Sierra de Huétor: Cañada del Sereno

Walk with Granada Rutas - Senderismo en Granada

Spanish

This circular route explores the Sierra de Huétor.

LONG DESCRIPTION

The walk starts by exit 259 on the A92 and we park near the Casa Forestal de los Peñoncillos. The route follows the camino Cañada del Sereno in the Sierra de Huétor. It is 11.4km long (with the option of an additional 1.5km to visit a cave) and takes about 3.5 hours to complete. We circle round the Loma de los Corrales to the Mirador de la Zarraca, then the Mirador de los Mármoles and finally the Mirador de Povorite,  all with spectacular views of the Sierra and the Natural Park. We then make our way down to the Barranco de Polvorite. Here, there is the option of a 1.5km detour to see the Cueva de los Mármoles, an interesting geological feature with its low ceiling and stalactites and stalacmites. We retrace our steps to the original track and cross the barranco to the Fuente de la Teja. The route continues on to the Mirador del Darro before returning to the starting point.

Note: The GPX time is the time on the GPX file. The GPX might not be accurate if during the walk the walkers went for a meal for example. Naismith is a formula based on distance and elevation.
