
The route explores the hills and the trenches around Alfaguara in the Sierra de Huétor. The walk is 10.52 km long, has an elevation of 188 m and takes about 3.5 hours to complete.
The route starts at the Puerto Alfacar in Alfagura. From here, we begin a gradual ascent up to the Trincheras de la Yedra and then on to the Trincheras del Llano del Fraile. We continue on up to Hospital de Tuberculosos - a hospital built by a wealthy German woman, Berta Wilhelmi, following the death of her brother who fell ill with tuberculosis. From here, we continue walking up to above the Cueva del Agua, which is the highest point of the walk, and then make our way down through the Alfaguarilla and back to the starting point.
