Plaza Nueva Granada

Plaza Nueva is probably the centre of Granada from a visitors point of view. The square has excellent transport connections, including nearby bus stops, taxi ranks, and pedestrian access to major landmarks such as the Alhambra and the Cathedral. Its central location makes it a practical starting point for exploring the city.
By the way if you want to meet up with someone in Granada the fountain in the photo above is a good meeting point.

Bad things about Plaza Nueva: It is cold in January and February because it is near the river Darro. The restaurants actually in Plaza Nueva are touristy and some don't even have free tapas because they have high rents and are franchises. Ask if they have "tapas gratis" and if not move on. Thieves operate in Plaza Nueva, it is not a big problem and some of the badly dressed poor people in Plaza Nueva are actually undercover police. Just, make sure you don't have your money in an unzipped back pocket or backpack and you will be fine.
