Sierra Nevada: Posiciones Veleta - Veleta - Lagunillos de la Virgen - Hoya de la Mora

Note: To go on this walk you have to book the Lanzadera Shuttle bus at 11am. We have already booked 5 places and there are 16 available.  This area can get very high winds and if we see winds over 45 km/h in the forecast we will cancel the walk and try and reschedule for the next available spot.

This route starts at Posiciones de Veleta and finishes at Hoya de la Mora. The route is 10 km long, has an elevation of 280 m, and taks about 4 hours to complete.

LONG DESCRIPTION

For this track, it is necessary to take the lanzadera up from the Albergue Universitario at Hoya de la Mora to Posiciones de Veleta  (Reservations +34 671 564 407, Price 7€, Dogs are allowed if booked). From here, we walk up to the Pico del Veleta, the highest point of the walk at 3389 m. From here, we make our waydown to the Refugio de la Carihuela and round to the Lagunillos de la Virgen. There is then a gentle descent back down to the Hoya de la Mora.
